Established as an ALMO on 1st July 2007, Salix Homes has defined a vision of becoming an excellent organisation, providing quality homes and services. Salix Homes is committed to ensuring access to its services for a diverse range of customers.

Salix Homes not only provides the traditional "housing management functions" but delivers area regeneration including Housing Market Renewal in partnership with customers, partners and suppliers.

Challenge

Salix Homes' Board and its Executive Team wanted to ensure that it always provides an excellent and equal service to its customers, that refl ects good practice in service delivery and operational areas. Through harnessing and sharing the knowledge contained within the business, Salix Homes wanted to deliver superior customer value as well as ensuring that its services continuously improve.

Salix also wanted to provide closer working arrangements with the community by extending the hours of service provision and providing new methods of communication rather than through the traditional offi ce-based methods.

Solution

Following a competitive tender process, Salix Homes chose to work with independent IT consultancy NCC Group to develop a customer focused ICT strategy, to help achieve its objectives.

At the heart of the strategy was the need to develop a reliable and appropriate infrastructure across the whole organisation, with the aim of providing convenient access to information, improve communications and facilitate service improvement for the benefi t of all customers.

When developing the strategy, NCC Group's team of consultants considered technology, information management, communication media, systems, processes, employee skill sets and training requirements.

Results
